ニューアーク美術館にて市民茶会を開催いたしました。約70名の方にお茶とお菓子を差し上げました。 軸は”萬里一條鉄” 過去から現在未来へ強い一本の鉄で繋がっている。「私達表千家同門会米国東部支部のミッションは、歴史ある茶の湯の世界を、現代へ、そして次の世代へと繋いでいく事です。又私達の故郷である日本は遠いけれども心は強い一本の鉄の絆で繋がっています。」と伝えました。 質疑応答も活発で、様々な質問に答えました。日本のコレクションを多く持つニューアーク美術館にふさわしい会になりました。 このイベントをサポートしてくださったグローバスファミリー及び企画くださったニューアーク美術館に感謝申し上げます。 余談ですが、この建物は日本でも活躍した、マイケルグレイヴスも関わっていたとの事。マイケルグレイヴスは、私達のスターでした。
We held a public tea gathering at the Newark Museum and served tea and sweets to approximately seventy attendees.
The hanging scroll read “Banri Ichijyou no Tetsu,” meaning that the past and present are connected by an iron rod. This message resonates with our mission of passing along the knowledge of the Chanoyu from the past to future generations, and the fact that even though Japan is far away, our hearts are bound together through a strong connection.
The audience seemed very interested in had many questions about the tea ceremony. The Newark Museum has an extensive collection of Japanese works, which served as a fitting backdrop for our tea gathering.
