【e-seminar series】Zen and Japanese Tea Ceremony #2
Omotesenke Domonkai Eastern Region USA launched a series of online seminars related to the Japanese tea ceremony in September. Chief Priest Shuken Furukawa will join the second session themed “Zen” and the Japanese tea ceremony. Transcending the boundaries of religions, Zen captures the hearts and touches the core of so many people, including world leaders. Inside and outside of the temple, the Chief Priest has been passionately communicating the deep wisdom of Zen as well as being committed to face and talk about social issues from the perspective of a Zen priest. His seminars and meditation sessions are very popular, as shown by many participants from afar. This will be a valuable and timely opportunity to hear his insightful story on how we can take more advantage of Zen teaching to reflect on ourselves and our everyday life amid a rapidly changing world. ◆ Shuken Furukawa is Chief Priest of Erinji, a Buddhist temple in Yamanashi Prefecture belonging to the Myōshin-ji branch of the Rinzai school of Japanese Zen. He holds a PhD from the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Science, the University of Tokyo. He has been featured in numerous interviews and lectures related to Zen (such as Keio Marunouchi City Campus and NHK).
