シアトル日本庭園・茶室“松声庵”で春の市民茶会

ワシントン州シアトル日本庭園は、州内・外にもよく知られた代表的な庭園の一つです。西海岸の日本庭園の中では戦後のもっとも早い時期につくられ、その後のアメリカ各地の日本庭園建設で参考とされてきました。日本のさまざまな自然が感じられるように配置された回遊式庭園で、季節ごとに草花や木々が色とりどりの美しい景色となります。

シアトル特別地区は日本庭園運営団体からのご依頼で、庭園の茶室“松声庵”で春の市民茶会を開催いたしました。庭園のホームページでお茶会開催の案内が行われると、すぐに完売となりました。一席１０名のお客さまに、まずはお茶室の桟敷席で茶の湯、表千家の歴史の紹介のあと、薄茶点前のデモンストレーションをご覧いただき、お客さまをもてなし、心と身体を豊かにする茶の湯のお話をさせていただきました。そののち、お茶室で日本からのお菓子と一服のお抹茶を楽しみ、春の庭を眺めながらお茶室でのひと時をお過ごしいただきながら、体験の感想を交えた茶の湯の懇談も行いました。今年はこの日本庭園で季節ごとのお茶会、七夕茶会、月見茶会、紅葉茶会を開催予定です。

2025 Spring Public Tea Gatherings at the Seattle Japanese Garden

The Seattle Japanese Garden opened in 1960 to symbolize friendship between the U.S. and Japan. The garden is well known in North America for its natural beauty.

The Seattle Special District conducted the spring public tea gatherings for three seatings in the tearoom. The tea gatherings were booked solidly for all seatings in advance. Participants watched the demonstration on the terrace and enjoyed sweets from Japan and a bowl of matcha in the tearoom.  We will have more seasonal chakai: Star Festival Chakai in July, Moon Viewing Festival Chakai in September, and Maple Festival Chakai in October.
