２０２５年第３回野点茶会

1941年創立、NYCで2番目に大きなFort Hamilton高校で、2025年も第3回目となる野点茶会を開催しました。表千家流学校茶道部の部員たちは、毎週の稽古の成果を発揮し、茶の湯に関心のある生徒や先生方をお迎えして、亭主として心を込めたおもてなしをしました。

今回は、茶道部の創設メンバーであるSeniorたちにとって最後の野点茶会となりました。卒業生から茶道部創設から、活動の思い出や在校生への引き継ぎへの想いなど、心温まる感動的なスピーチで始まりました。

2025年6月に卒業を迎える各部員には、卒業式で表千家学校茶道部の一員としての誇りを表す緑色の「Graduation Honor Cord」が授与されました。こちらも卒業生たちが中心となって準備しました。

多くの方々にご参加いただき、茶の湯の精神や日本文化を校内に伝える貴重な機会となりました。今後も、日々の稽古を通じて、Fort Hamilton高校における学校茶道の活動をより深く、豊かなものに育ててまいります。

3rd Annual Outdoor Tea Ceremony | Fort Hamilton High School, 2025

Fort Hamilton High School, founded in 1941 and the 2nd largest public high school in NYC, held its 3rd annual Nodate (outdoor tea ceremony) in 2025. This event was hosted by the school's Omotesenke-style Japanese tea ceremony club, where students have been practicing weekly to prepare for this special occasion.

Club members demonstrated the skills and spirit of Chanoyu (the Way of Tea) by serving as hosts and welcoming fellow students and teachers—many of whom have a deep interest in Chanoyu and Japanese culture—with heartfelt hospitality.

This year's tea ceremony was significant, as it marked the final tea ceremony for the club's founding senior members. The event opened with heartfelt speeches reflecting on their journey and encouraging younger students to carry the tradition forward. Each graduating member was awarded a green "Graduation Honor Cord" to wear at commencement, a symbol of pride as part of the Omotesenke school. The cords were thoughtfully prepared by the graduates themselves.

The ceremony offered a special opportunity to share the spirit of Chanoyu and Japanese culture with the school community. We look forward to deepening this cultural tradition at Fort Hamilton High School through continued weekly practice and seasonal tea ceremony in the years to come.
