Newark Museum のパトロンの方たちへの茶会をしました。Balltaine House と呼ばれた歴史的な建物の中に茶室を設営し洋と和のコラボレーションで不思議な空間ができあがりました。テーマは和敬清寂。ほどんどの方が茶道を体験した事がなかったので、茶道とは？お茶と茶道の歴史、正式な茶事について説明しました。そして歴史は途切れる事なく、過去から現在へそして未来へと繫いでいくのが私達のミッションであると説明しました。そして茶道は生きており、現実の生活と深くつながっているとの説明に皆さん共感してくださいました。
We held a tea gathering for patrons of Newark Museum. The tea room was set up in a historic building called the Balltaine House. The juxtaposition between Japanese and Western aesthetics created an enchanting atmosphere that fully embraced the theme of wa kei sei jaku (harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility).
Since most attendees had never experienced a tea ceremony, I gave a brief explanation of the history of tea in Japan. I also stated our group's mission of keeping this traditional art alive for future generations, which resonated profoundly with our audience.
