ワシントン大学茶の湯クラブの今年最初のお茶室でのお稽古として、初釜を行いました。ワシントン大学茶の湯クラブでは、毎週１回、学内の教室においての割り稽古を行なっています。コロナ収束後、2年ぶりにお茶室で初釜を実施しました。
青竹の花入に結び柳と椿、台子といったしつらえで、学生たちに新春のお茶室を味わってもらいました。ほとんどの部員は初釜の経験も初めてのことですので、この機会に現部員たちには、全員着物を着付けし、初釜を体験してもらいました。参加した部員からは、清々しい気持ちになれ、お茶の楽しさが広がりました、といった声がありました。今後の茶の湯クラブの部活動にいっそうの弾みがついたひと時となりました。
University of Washington Chanoyu Club, Hatsugama
The club members have been practicing warigeiko in a classroom on campus every Friday. Today, we had a hatsugama (the first tea practice of the year) at the tearoom. The hanging scroll, flower arrangement, and daisu (shelf) in the tearoom were chosen to celebrate the New Year. Most members had never attended a hatsugama, and many dressed up in kimonos for the first time. They very much enjoyed the hatsugama tradition in the tearoom.
