秋の JP Humes Japanese Stroll Garden 茶道デモンストレーション

秋晴れに恵まれた10月4日、JP Humes Japanese Stroll Gardenという美しい日本庭園にて、表千家流による茶道デモンストレーションを開催いたしました。

当日は20名以上の一般来場者にご参加いただき、茶の湯の精神と禅との深い関わりについてご紹介する機会となりました。

今回は特別に2名のお客様に畳の茶室へお上がりいただき、客としての基本的な作法も体験していただきました。

Gardenおよび茶室を初めて訪れる方も多く、参加者の皆様からは多くのご質問を頂戴しながら、茶の湯を通じて日本文化の奥深さを共有することができました。

また、今回の掛け軸「水掬月手在」に込められた意味についても解説し、多くの方々にその美しさをご理解いただけたことは、大変意義深いものとなりました。

On a clear autumn day, October 4th, we held a demonstration of the Omotesenke school of Japanese tea ceremony at the serene JP Humes Japanese Stroll Garden.

More than 20 guests attended, offering us a meaningful opportunity to introduce the spirit of chanoyu and its deep connection to Zen philosophy.

As part of the demonstration, two guests were invited to step into the tatami room and experience the etiquette of being a guest in a traditional tea setting.

Many participants were visiting both the Garden and the tea room for the first time, and we were delighted to receive numerous questions as we shared the depth and beauty of Japanese culture through tea.

We also explained the meaning behind the hanging scroll displayed for the occasion: “水掬月手在” (Scooping water, the moon is in your hand). This phrase resonated deeply with many attendees and added a poetic layer to the experience.
